I finally caught my breath after catching up on things that were witing for me after coming back to LJ.
The rest of my stay in Amsterdam was very nice. Biba, Pablo and I went to Rotterdam and I was shocked when I came out of the station because it’s so different from Amsterdam. Apparently, it was completely flattened by the bombing in WWII, so it made room for some interesting new architecture. I’ve never seen a bridge being raised, it’s so bizzare. The street is actually at 90-degrees in front of you. Very cool, indeed.

Pablo and I went to see a nice Japanese movie called The Soup, One Morning at the Rotterdam Film Festival. Well, nice isn’t really the right word to describe it. It was depressing as hell, but good, nonetheless. After getting back to Am., we searched for a place where we could get a snack, but it’s not as easy as it sounds, especially at 4:00 on a Wednesday. Although, the “bike shops” seemd to be open for some reason, so I bought a bike from a “bike salesman". Trams are such a hassle. Not to mention walking. It’s so much easier to move around on wheels of your own. Anyway, it’s a really nice on and I hope it’s still waiting for me when I return. It should be safe inside.

I did quite a lot of traveling with Katarina, meeting with some very cool people and getting more info for our project. I think we definitely made some progress.

I came home to the new apartment to find the bathroom demolished. For the past three weeks they’ve been renovating our bathroom and they’re still not done. They’re supposed to finish tommorrow and it look very nice, but it’s something they should have done before we moved in. If nothing else, it has made me appreciate the luxury of daily showering. Thank gawd we have a separate toilet, at least. Oh, and no warm water, either.

Telekom and SiOL gave me quite an exercise, also. The bastards kept ping-ponging me between eachother and all I wanted to do was transfer my ADSL account to the new address. I think I might have talked to 20 different people before I found out exactly where my contract got stuck. If I hadn’t, I would probably be waiting forever. Needless to say, the procedure took 3 weeks after waiting for 2 weeks for them to install the phone line, which we could apply for after signing the contract for the apartment, which was also a week late. So for the past 2 months I’ve been running around town with my USB key, trying to do web development while offline. A total nightmare. The ADSL transfer alone costs 60EUR. They should definitely make it more portable.

I’m meeting Biba at 13h so she can take me to the junkies. At least now I have a good lock for my bike in LJ.

Pablo’s concert at The End was cool. Everybody was really nervous because this was their first performance. This was the first bar I went to in A’dam and I already met Igor from Elastik. I thought, “Geez, this place is even smaller than Ljubljana!”

Katarina took me to 310K on Saturday where we were supposed to have a drink with her friend Yuka. It turned out there was a huge party/fashion exhibition there and the vibe was really nice. I heard a lot about Dutch parties, but this one didn’t seem stuck up at all.

There was a nice electro set and after that, a live act by 3-1. They really kick ass.

I’m crazy about Katarina’s latest two videos, “Deathbed” and “Angel’s Angle". I do hope she gets into Rijks. She’s turning in her application now.

I’ll be back…

Biba and I arrived to Amsterdam this morning. I’ll be staying here for the next 10 days at Katarina’s place. I hope we’ll have a productive week together, going to meetings and doing technical tests for a project we’re doing together with Tim. I know the technical aspect of such projects is supposed to be the most tedious, I find it very exciting. But then, everything is when you do it for the first time. We’ll also try to do the budget calculations so we can start fishing for some sponsors.

I’m being pretty vague because I don’t want to let out too much info on this work, but I’m very excited about it and it’s finally starting to move forward after a year of planning. I’ll write more about it when the ime comes.

I haven’t been to A’dam since 2001 and i should be excited, but I still haven’t switched off from LJ. I’ve been working a lot lately and yesterday I even interrupted my packing to fix some stuff on a graph for the Cliniporator project with Ivan. I’ll add that one to the ‘folio when I get back.

Pablo’s band Menage a trois is playing tonight. I’m looking forward to seeing him again, he’s a cool guy. So that’s where we’re all going tonight. After that, we’ll just see where the night takes us.

I’ve been in quite a stressful situation with a website I’m currently developing. So if anybody knows of a hosting service that can handle a PHP5+MySQL4.1 website, please let me know.

I’ll try to do more updates in the next few days, so stay tuned…

Lately, I’ve been craving for some good parties, but it seems I’m not the only victim of the post-orgasmic chill after a wild December. After the orthodox christmas dinner, I went to check out Metelkova, but there wan’t much happening except a boring big-beat party at Klub Gromka with mostly 19-year-olds in attendance. Menza was quite empty and Tiffany was packed with unfamiliar generic gays. So I tried Jazzbina and it too was closed, so my last resort was Kodeljevo.

I now value my persistence even more because the party at Kodeljevo was exactly what I needed to get me out of this fucking melancholy.

I like DJs that know where to play what and DJ Nova hit the nail right on the head this time with dancy electro tunes that I miss so much in Lj. Because the place wasn’t as packed as it can be sometimes, Nova and Zhe were toying with the guests a bit, playing weird but still very danceable tracks. Nova even smuggled in one of the tracks from my last mix. Nice one.

Actually, the original lineup released a 7″ vinyl ep called Vragoder. After that, they went their separate ways, but one or two members decided to rerecord the otherwise male vocals with a new female vocalist, whose voice doesn’t really do it for me. They released the new versions and some other tracks on the album Uh!.

The categories in this section list all my projects since 1998 when I started working at Parsek. The process of writing about them was very cathartic, bringing out long forgotten memories. I tried to be as accurate as possible, but the accompanying texts are still very subjective.

I split the projects up into the following categories:

Parsek - projects done at Parsek between 1998 and 2003

Renderspace - projects done at Renderspace in 2003 and 2004

Freelance - projects done independently

Artsy Fartsy - personal projects and collaborations with other artists

The project dates are more or less accurate, except the ones from 1998, which are only dated in a way that keeps them in order.

I invite you to post any comments, suggestions and corrections using the comment forms. For comments about specific projects, post using the form at the project’s page. For general comments about my work, post them here or email me at philtre(at)gmail(dot)com.
